Your Coastal Maine Adventure Starts Here
Maine Coastal Tours
Come join us for an unforgettable 90-minute excursion on the waters surrounding Five Islands Harbor located in beautiful Mid Coast Maine, just moments from the famous Reid State Park. Relax while we cruise near picturesque lighthouses, wildlife (whales, seals, seabirds and more!), and the gorgeous islands that make up the surrounding Atlantic Ocean. View stunning seaside cottages and privately-owned islands up close. Five Islands Boat Tours offers an exclusive, personal, educational and entertaining cruise. We are the only lobster boat tour in Five Islands Harbor. We limit our passenger numbers to six guests to ensure comfort onboard our traditional down-east style lobster boat and provide a casual seating area equipped with nautical folding chairs and a side table. Feel free to bring food and drinks. This cruise is lightly narrated. The temperature on the coast tends to be much cooler than inland. Please bring a light jacket, long sleeve, or other appropriate clothing including a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. There is minimal coverage from the sun and weather. Cruises will still run in light rains and drizzle. Depending on the sea state (the turbulence at sea, generally measured according to average wave height) the boat could get a little wet with sea spray. If the winds and seas are questionable, the captains will cancel, postpone, or rebook the scheduled tour. If you are unable to rebook, we will issue a full refund. Full refunds will be offered if the captains cancel a tour for any reason. If there is a weather delay and you are unable to postpone your trip, you will also receive a full refund.
There is a two ticket minimum for the boat to leave the dock.
Tickets: $55 per person for 90 minutes

Ferry to Seguin Island Lighthouse
Join us on a ferry ride over to Maine’s second oldest lighthouse, and Maine’s highest light. In 1795 George Washington commissioned a lighthouse be built on Seguin Island, as ship wrecks were prevalent and sailors easily became lost at sea without the guidance of a light. The current lighthouse, built in 1857, is the third lighthouse that has existed on Seguin Island, as the previous two lighthouses did not stand up against the harsh Maine weather and the beating ocean waves. The tramway built in 1895 still stands today and leads the path below up to the lighthouse.
Ferry to Seguin Island is roughly 55 minutes from Five Islands. *There is pick up and drop off from Fort Popham, please call for more information. The trip from Popham to Seguin is roughly 35 minutes. Each trip runs approximately 4-5 hours. 2 hours of travel time, 2-3 hours to explore the 65-acre island and it’s rocky beaches, winding trails that run the coastline, the grounds and the lighthouse itself.
Summer lighthouse keepers provide a wonderful narration and guided tour to the top of Seguin Lighthouse. If you aren’t afraid of heights, you will have the opportunity to step out onto the upper most catwalk that wraps around the first order 9’ tall Fresnel lens that lights the island up every evening like a nightly full moon. Grounds are open for exploration including a lighthouse museum and giftshop. Please be respectful of the area as the summer lighthouse keepers reside there full time from May-September. Donations to the island are greatly appreciated and help preserve this historic site. The gift shop has Venmo available and donation boxes are located at the base of the tram by the engine house.
Important information:
There is no dock at Seguin Island. The boat will be tied to a mooring in the cove and one of the captains will take you to shore via dinghy. Please note, you must be physically able to climb from the lobster boat down into a small dinghy and from the dinghy back up into the lobster boat. The dinghy is stable and safe to climb in and out of but can feel unstable to landlubbers (a person unfamiliar with the sea or sailing.) We take 2 guests at a time to and from shore. Assume your feet will get wet- we try our best to get the dinghy into a dry spot to disembark on the beach at low tide and onto the rocks at high tide. Rocks can be slippery. We recommend some sort of water shoe or sandal, but barefoot is fine if that is your preference. There is no running water on the island and only one outhouse. Please use the outhouse before heading up the trail. The trail is well-maintained but has some steeper spots (45-degree incline) and takes about 15 minutes to walk up to the light. Walking sticks are available at the bottom of the tram to borrow for extra assistance. This island is carry in-carry out, which means whatever you bring with you, comes back with you. There are picnic tables and plenty of grounds to sit on and enjoy a picnic. We suggest carrying a backpack with snacks and ample drinks/water, and needed supplies and per our experience, you want to have your hands free. There is no food or drinks for sale on the island.
